NEIL JOSEPH PYLE - Des Moines

Neil Joseph Pyle passed away on December 5, 2006 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. A funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Des Moines. A private burial service will take place at a later date. Neil was born on January 7, 1930 in Clarion, Iowa, the son of George and Sylvia Pyle. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He earned Life Insurance and Financial Planning degrees. As founder of Pension & Insurance Services, Inc., he worked in the insurance industry for over 50 years, until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Neil enjoyed gardening and was active in sports, including water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, golf and racquetball. He also enjoyed off-road motorcycling. Neil was a devoted husband and father and grandfather and dearly loved by his grandchildren. His family admired his determination and spirit.

Neil is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Roberta, of Des Moines; daughters, Diane (Chuck) Freeman, Kathy (Jim) Simmons, Sheila (Gary) Sargent all of Des Moines, and Julie (Dave) Williams of Omaha; sons, Steve (Patti) Pyle and Mike (Stephanie) Pyle, both of Des Moines; thirteen grandchildren, brother, Charles R. (Hope) Pyle of Cedar Rapids and a sister, Aletha Armatis of Lexington, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joe and a sister, Beverly.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 8 with a Vigil Service at 5:30 p.m. at Iles Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel, Des Moines. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Hope Ministries.
