Service Held for Harold R. Ryan, 48

Harold R. Ryan, age 48 of Dows, died at his farm home near Popejoy Thursday, February 16. Born November 4, 1918 at Corwith, he was the son of James and Minnie Ryan. He was married to Melba Oleson on June 12, 1943 at Dows.

He is survived by his wife and three son, Michael of Cedar Falls, James of Popejoy; Timothy at home, four brothers and five sisters. They are James Edward of Kanawha, Walter R. of Dows, Glenn of Hampton, Darrell of Eagle Grove and the following sisters, Mrs. Frank Slatkoske of Des Moines, Mrs. Theo Korth of Dows, Mrs. Harley Rockow of Garner, Mrs. Bill Walrod of Belmond and Mrs. Rolland Aldrich of Rowan and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Popejoy Methodist Church with Rev. David Saunders officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows. The Van Hove Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Ryan was a member of the Popejoy-Alden School Board for 18 years and was presently serving as president of the Board.
