Carl Winter of East Tawas and formerly of Saginaw and Hemlock, died Saturday, November 13, 2004, at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. Age 85 years. He was born August 24, 1919 in Goldfield, Iowa. Mr. Winter was retired from Central Foundry in Saginaw after working for 35 years there. He also operated his farm in Hemlock for many years. He was a member of the Hemlock VFW Post and Zion Lutheran Church in Tawas. He was a former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Saginaw and Zion Lutheran Church in Hemlock. Surviving are two sons, Daniel (Patricia) Winter of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Charles (Shelly) Winter of Denver, Colorado; one daughter, Mary Douglas of Oscoda; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Carl J. Winter on November 22, 1968; by a sister, Mary Brandle and by a brother, Godfried Winter. Services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Tawas with Rev. Steven Mahlburg officiating. The Committal Service will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Hemlock. Friends may call at the Buresh & Kobs Funeral Home in Tawas on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. at the church. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Building Fund of Zion Lutheran Church in Tawas.
