BELMOND - Wilbur D. Pals, 69, passed away Monday (June 28, 1999) at his home in rural Belmond. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Belmond, with the Rev. James Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dugger-Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond and one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.

Wilbur, the son of John D. L. and Tena (Sandman) Pals was born Dec. 3, 1929, near Alexander, Iowa. He grew up in the Alexander area where he attended Pleasant Township No. 6 Country School. He then attended junior high in Alexander and high school in Clarion. Wilbur graduated from Clarion High School in 1949. After high school, Wilbur lived his entire farming life southeast of Belmond. He would later care for his mother and father in their later years. Wilbur was both active in livestock and grain farming, he also enjoyed reading. Wilbur was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Belmond where he was baptized and confirmed.

Wilbur is survived by two sisters, Helen Schnittjer and her husband, Edward, of Clarion, and Mary Isaacson and her husband, Lenvil, of Melbourne; four brothers, Arthur Pals and his wife, Marjorie, of Dows, George Pals of Rowan, Herbert Pals of Belmond, and Jerry Pals and his wife, Eileen, of Belmond; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Dugger-Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond
