BELMOND - Juen Arlene Anderson, 77, passed away Friday (May 7, 1999) at her home in Belmond, after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church of rural Belmond, with the Rev. Lowell Halvorson officiating. Burial will be at St. Olaf Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Monday.

Juen, the daughter of Nels and Clara Ersland Rasmussen, was born July 11, 1921, in Humboldt County. She grew up in the Humboldt area, where she attended country school and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1939. Juen was united in marriage to Everett Anderson on Dec. 23, 1939, in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in various communities in northern Iowa before moving to the St. Olaf area in 1946. They later moved to their present home in Belmond, where they have lived for the past 29 years. Following normal training, Juen taught in Belmond Country School No. 5, which was the last country school in the area. Juen was later employed by Tomco Seeds as a secretary. She then worked in accounting at the USS Agri Chemical Company in Belmond for 21 years. Juen was an avid sports fan and faithful follower of the local teams. She was active in the local Boy Scouts organization. Juen and Everett were avid campers and have camped in 49 of the 50 states. She enjoyed bowling, was a woodcarver and a great bread baker. Juen enjoyed many types of needlework and lovingly stitched a set of hardanger paraments for the St. Olaf Church. Juen was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, serving in such capacities as Sunday school teacher, choir member, church treasurer, education board member, and ALCW. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 53 years.

Juen is survived by her husband, Everett; daughter, Dixie Miller and her husband, William, of Belmond; three sons, Edward and his wife, Sharon, of Lubbock, Texas, Dennis and his wife, Linda, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Douglas and his wife, Laurie, of Nevada, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Henry Rasmussen and his wife, Mariam, of Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Kate; two children in infancy; one grandson; one sister; and four brothers. Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond.
