BELMOND - Robert Dean Jacobs, 49, died Friday (May 7, 1999) at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Tenold Funeral Chapel, Belmond, with the Rev. Jim Carpenter of Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond officiating. Inurnment will take place in Belmond Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tenold Funeral Home, and will resume one hour prior to service time Monday.

Robert Dean Jacobs, the son of Ernest and Leona (Arp), was born on July 15, 1949, in Marshalltown. He was raised in the Staceyville area, and he attended and graduated from Osage High School. In January 1968, Bob entered the United States Navy and served his country as an engineman during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in January 1974. Bob married Darla Counsel in 1974, and the couple moved to Belmond. They had two daughters, Christina and Crystal. He worked at Helland & Long, an International Harvester Implement Dealer, as a partsman and worked in equipment sales.

Survivors include two daughters, Christina Noah and her husband, Jeremy, of Kanawha, and Crystal Jacobs of Belmond; two brothers, Binford Fredricksen and his wife, Fern, of Vancouver, Wash., and Rodney Jacobs and his wife, Julie, of Minneapolis; and a niece and a nephew, Amanda Jacobs and Rodney Jacobs Jr, both of Minneapolis. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David. Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond.
