HELEN JEANNE TAYLOR

A light shone through the window on Wednesday, June 4, 2003, as Helen Jeanne Taylor left this world to be with the Lord. She touched many lives in her 86 years, and will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her only daughter, Deborah Geddes; and her only granddaughter, Kelley Geddes, of Colorado Springs.

Jeanne was born August 28, 1916 in Boone, Iowa, to Grant and Grace (Standley) Jennings. Jeanne graduated from Cedar Falls Teachers College, and worked as a teacher in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She then earned her degree in nursing from the University of Northern Iowa. As an Army nurse, she was stationed in Osoka, Japan, during the Korean War. It was there that she met her husband, a soldier in the Air Force. She was married January 7, 1951 in Tokyo, Japan, to John B. Taylor, who is deceased. In 1981, she founded the Parkinson Support Group in Colorado Springs. For 12 years, she served as the president of the group. She also volunteered at Penrose Hospital for many years. She had many great accomplishments, but was most proud of her family. She was happiest helping and inspiring others. Her wisdom and humor resulted in the razor sharp wit that won the love and respect of friends and strangers alike. Those of you who were lucky enough to meet Jeanne Taylor for two seconds in a hallway will remember her for a lifetime.

Viewing is 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, June 6, at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade. The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 7, at Sunrise Assisted Living, 2105 University Park Boulevard. Donations may be made to the Jeanne Taylor Parkinsons Support Group, P.O.
