M.D. DONEGAN DIED WEDNESDAY

Michael D. Donegan, 80, died at the home of his son, James, in Des Moines Wednesday. Mr. Donegan was a pensioned Northwestern engineer. For the past several years with Mrs. Donegan he has been making his home with his son in Des Moines. He is a brother of Maurice E. Donegan, chief justice of the Iowa Supreme Court. Mrs. Donegan is a sister of J.H. Howell of this city. The widow, and six children survive, George and John of Phoenix, Arizona, James, and Kathleen of Des Moines, Marie who lives in California, and Mrs. Ruth Ball whose home is in Missouri. Funeral services will be held in Sacred Heart church on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Burial will take place in Calvary cemetery.

Michael D. Donegan was born on Feb. 14, 1857, at Welton, Iowa. He took up his residence at Boone, Ia., in 1878, where he entered the employment of the C. & N. W. railroad as brakeman. In 1882 he moved to Eagle Grove where he again entered the services of the Northwestern railway. On June 14, 1886, he married Margaret Howell. Seven children were born to this union, six of whom survive: Mrs. Ruth Ball, Kahoka, Mo., Mrs. Marie Adams, Casper, Wyoming, John H. Donegan, Phoenix, Ariz., Geo. H. Donegan, Tucson, Ariz., James and Kathleen of Des Moines. Mrs. Thos. Moore died in 1918.

Fifteen grandchildren, 7 brothers and sisters also survive. Patrick of Davenport, Dennis of Clinton, Jerry of Moline, Ill., Maurice E., chief justice of the supreme court, Des Moines, Mrs. Mary Showalter of Davenport and Mrs. Lovejoy of Des Moines.

Mr. Donegan never had a serious accident during his 53 years of service on the railroad.
