MRS. N. L. VANDERLIP
Mrs. Catherine Baity was born at LaPlata, Missouri, January 16, 1867 and died October 30, 1945, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 16 days. She grew to womanhood in that community and was united in marriage to Norman L. Vanderlip February 14, 1893. To this union was born one son, Hiram B. Vanderlip. Her home was made with her family near LaPlata until 1905 when they moved to Ellsworth, Iowa, and in 1913 moved to their present farm northwest of Dows, at which place she lived the remainder of her life. Mrs. Vanderlip became a member of the Presbyterian church at LaPlata, Missouri, when she was a young girl and had been a true and faithful member ever since. She also joined the Rebekah lodge at LaPlata and for many years was an active member of that order. She was a devoted wife and mother, always willing to sacrifice for others. She was handicapped during the latter years of her life by very poor health, but did not complain because of her misfortune and tried to look on the bright side of life, always feeling that she might regain her health. She was practically an invalid the past three years and was cared for by her immediate family and took pride and joy in the many calls of her two granddaughters who lived next door. Only recently he sickness took a turn for the worse and death called her Tuesday, Oct. 30th, 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Norman L. Vanderlip, her son Hiram and wife, two granddaughters, Marilyn and Madalyn Vanderlip and a sister-in-law, Mary Vanderlip, who has made her home with the family; also two sisters, Sarah Johnson of Saratogo, Wyo., and Lottie Doneghy of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Rev. George P. Baity, D.D., pastor emeritus of the Westport Ave. Presbyterian Church, Kansas City, Missouri; James L. Baity of Washington, D.C.; And Frank Baity of Colorado Springs, Colorado. And many other relatives and a host of friends. Her passing is deeply felt by her family and friends, but the memory of her life will never be forgotten. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Thursday, Nov. 1st, at 2:00 pm. Rev. M. L. Blake officiating. Burial at Fairview Cemetery.
