COBURN, FURUSETH, SHAFER, JACOBSON, CRABTREE, OLESON

Harvey W. Coburn, 62, of RR #1, Dows, died on Saturday evening, November 11, 1972 of a heart attack while being taken by ambulance to the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock from the Dows Presbyterian Church with Rev. W.O. Niles and Rev. A.G. Green officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery and the Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

He was born on a farm north of Belmond on February 21, 1910 and was the son of John H. and Winnie Crabtree Coburn. When he was ten years old his family moved to a farm north of Dows and he lived in the area since that time. On July 29, 1933 he was married to Anna Marie Oleson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. At the time of their marriage he operated a portable mill. Later he was with the Shell Oil Co. and operated an independent trucking company before he started farming in 1943. For the past seven years he had been a bus drive for the Dows Community School. Mr. Coburn was known over the state for his antique hearse that was displayed at many parades. He as a charter member of the Dows Saddle Club and also a charter member of Pony of the Americas.

He is survived by his wife and one son, Lowell of Monroe, Iowa. Also surviving are two brothers and five sisters, William of Latimer, Fred of Harlingen, TX, Mrs. Oscar (Neva) Furuseth of Dubuque, Mrs. William (Eva) Shafer of Modesto, CA, Mrs. Carl (Jessie) Jacobson of Coulter, Mrs. George (Ardith) .......
