John Kenneth Kist, the son of Joseph and Verna Kist, was born Dec. 10, 1917 at Eagle Grove, IA. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth graduating from Eagle Grove High School. John was united in marriage to Ruth Olson. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII. John worked as an electrical engineer for Western Electric. Mr. Kist passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at his home in Downers Grove at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael; two brothers, Robert and Richard; and one sister, Cheryl Dore. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Kist of Downers Grove, IL; one son, Gary Kist and his wife, Eve of Bartlett, IL; two grandsons, David Kist of Modesto, CA and William Kist of Eden Prairie, MN. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Graveside services were held Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, IA.
