WILLIAM "BILL" RILEY -- Des Moines
Bill Riley, 74, died at home on Friday October 28, 2005. The body has been cremated and memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 2 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church. Bill was born in Clarion, Iowa and had lived in Des Moines for 63 Years. He married Shirley Watkins in 1952. Bill was employed by EMC, Carriers, and retired from Farm Bureau Insurance. Following his retirement he served as claims manager of the Iowa Insurance Guaranty Association. Bill had served as president and was currently serving as secretary, emeritus, to the Iowa Workers' Compensation Advisory Committee. Bill and Shirley loved travel, family, friends, football and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Kathy Ackelson, Pat Riley, Kellie Harrington, Sue Vander Linden; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his brother, Robert and his wife Rita Riley, all of Des Moines.The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Westover Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa. He will be sincerely missed by all that knew and loved him.
