MANLY - Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Nitcher, 56, died Monday (Feb. 14, 2000) at her home in Goldfield, after a long battle with cancer. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manly. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today with a public scriptural rosary service at 7 p.m. at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly.

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Nitcher was born on May 21, 1943, on Highway 65 South near Mason City, the daughter of Orville and Mary (Doebel) Hagen. She received her education in the North Central Community School system, graduating from North Central High School in 1961. She also attended and graduated from North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City in 1993. Betty enjoyed fishing, cross-stitching and playing Bingo and Scrabble, but her great love and enjoyment was spending time with her 10 grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She enriched the lives of almost everyone she met through her divine faith and spirituality. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters and sons-in-law, Kim Hull and Wayne, of Mason City, Ronda Hove and Chris Collins, of Goldfield and Bess Eilertson and Rob, of Northwood; 10 grandchildren, Chris, Teri, Joshua, Renee, Brandon, Cody, Jordyn, Kayla, Courtney and Kristen; her mother, Mary Hagen, of Manly; her brothers and sisters, Sharon Hrubetz, of Mason City, Tom and Dorothy Hagen, of Northwood, Knute and Sherri Hagen, of Portland, Ore., Mary "Toots" Rork, of Manly, Sarah Hall, of Annandale, Minn., Monica Nitcher, of Manly, and Becky Hull, of Mason City; several nieces and nephews, each one of them so very special to Betty in their own way; aunts and uncles, Leone Christensen, Karen Payne, Monica Hagen, Marcus "Bud" and Bonnie Doebel. She was preceded in death by her father, Orville Hagen; paternal and maternal grandparents, Oliver and Lottie Hagen and Arthur and Bernadette Doebel; one brother, Marcus Paul Hagen; one niece, Janis Jo Hull and several aunts and uncles.
