Rex E. Sager, 77, died Sept. 10, 1998. Born in Woolstock, Iowa, he had been a resident of Akron for most of his life. He was a jazz violinist and fronted his own band in high school, and served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Sager graduated from the University of Akron Law School in 1954 and was a member of the Akron and Ohio bar associations. He practiced law from 1954 until 1997 and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Sager had been a member of The Chapel since 1959, where he taught Sunday School in the primary department, and sang in the choir. He was a member of the board of Shelter Care, Inc. since its inception in 1972, and was a member of the Akron Camera Club for many years, having received countless awards for his work in photography.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Kathleen Miller of Fairlawn; son, J. Gregory Sager of Akron; son and daughter-in-law, John Emery and Sheila Sager of Copley Township; grandchildren, Sean Sager and wife, Lisa, of Atlanta, Ga., Kimberly Holland and husband, Ed, of Copley, Kristin Nelson and husband, Ron, of Copley, and Mark Sager of Copley; great-granddaughter, Kailey Holland; and great-grandson, Kyle Thomas Nelson.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. MONDAY at The Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, with Rev. James Dull officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. SUNDAY. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Shelter Care Endowment Fund, 680 E. Market St., Akron 44304.
