November 19, 1917 -- January 8, 2002

Ruth Engelby Ohlfest, 84, died Jan. 8, 2002. Born in Eagle Grove IA, Nov.19, 1917 moved to Tucson AZ in 1951. Worked for First Natl Bank of AZ in business development and public relations. She was the first woman to earn the title of Assistant Vice President, making her the highest ranking woman officer in the bank in 1965. Her memberships included: Natl Assn of Bank Women, Tucson Press Club, Arizona Press Women (State President in 1965), and Tucson Advertising Club. She was 1966 Tucson Woman of the Year and 1966 Tucson Ad Club Woman of The Year. She is a former member of YWCA Board of Directors, Tucson Chamber of Commerce Keep Tucson Beautiful Committees, and United Community Campaign Residential Division Chairman in 1967 and 1968. Married Art Ohlfest and retired from banking in 1968. A second career in real estate in Florence Gardens and Pinetop AZ kept her busy for many years.

Preceded in death by husbands, Irvin and Arthur, 3 sisters, 5 brothers and 1 grand-son. Survived by sister Doris Michels, Clarion,IA, Son, Ronald (Brenda) Engelby, Chicago IL, Daughters, Nelda (Ray) Tubbs, Pine AZ Karen Cox, Tucson AZ and Janet (Wilford) Davis, Mesa AZ 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children, 1 great-great-grandchild. Private services and internment at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, 2:30PM, January 11, 2002.
