EUGENE H. "GENE" THISSEN, 80, of St. Petersburg, Florida died Thursday (Aug. 28, 1997) in Las Vegas while traveling. Born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, he came here in 1957 from Waterloo, Iowa. Locally, he was owner and operator of Commercial Carpet for 12 years and was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a a member of DAV Chapter 91, Pinellas Park. Survivors include his wife, Angela M.; two daughters, Carol A. Ray, Kenneth City, and Janet K. DeNapoli, Clearwater; a brother, Edward, Waterloo; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes, Bobbitt Chapel, St. Petersburg.
