Margaret Langstaff McMillan, 99, a former librarian and teacher, died Dec. 24, 1991, in St. Mary's Manor, 111 Mock Drive, Blue Springs, where she lived. Miss McMillan was a reference librarian at the Mid-Continent Public Library in Independence, retiring in 1976. Earlier she was a librarian for the Missouri State Historical Society at Christian College in Columbia. She taught at the Central and Northwest Missouri state teachers colleges and the University of Missouri-Columbia. She received a bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State Teachers College and a master's degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Miss McMillan was a member of the Missouri and Jackson County historical societies. She was a former directors board member of the Medical Center of Independence. She was a member of the Woman's City Club. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Independence. She was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, and lived in the Independence area for 50 years. Survivors include a sister, Mildred McMillan, Blue Springs. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Washington Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel.
