Daryl "Dobbie" Anderson, 76, of Boone died of complications of a stroke Saturday at Evangelical Free Church Home there. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stark-Welin Funeral Chapel in Boone. Burial with military rites will be at Linwood Park Cemetery there. Mr. Anderson was born in Eagle Grove and lived in Boone as a youth. He was a retired custodian with Page school and had been a barber for many years. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden.

He is survived by his wife, Donna a son, Craig of Boone a daughter, Caryl Fackler of Ogden a brother, Ronald Anderson of Lincoln, Neb. and two step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, where visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday.

Daryl "Dobbie" Anderson, 76, a resident of the Evangelical Free Church Home, Boone, and formerly of 333 West Fifth St., Boone, died Sunday at the home of complications from a stroke. He had been a resident of the home since August of 2001. He was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Eagle Grove, the son of Ivan and Irma (Donly) Anderson. He married Donna Ilene Erickson June 20, 1954, in Ogden.

He graduated from Boone High School in January of 1944 and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy from April of 1944 until March of 1946. Following his discharge, he attended Boone Junior College in Boone and the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. He received his barber certificate from barber college in Sioux City in October of 1950. He served as a barber in Eagle Grove for two years before moving to Ames. In March of 1953, he moved to Boone and was employed as a barber at the Holst Hotel and at Northside Barber Shop. He later was employed as a custodian at Page School until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and the American Legion. His hobbies included being outdoors, hunting, fishing, working in his garden, listening to music from the 1940s and playing music for class reunions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Delvere and Russell Anderson. Survivors include his wife; one son, Craig Anderson of Boone; one daughter and son-in-law, Caryl and Dwight Fackler of Ogden; two step-grandchildren, Arletta Fackler and Anthony Fackler of Arizona; and one brother, Ronald Anderson of Lincoln, NE.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with the Rev. Daniel Solomon officiating. Burial with the presentation of the flag by the Boone Veterans Council will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Friends may call at Stark-Welin Chapel Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues Wednesday at the chapel from 8 a.m. until time of services. Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone is in charge of arrangements.
