Alexander (Alex) S. Nicholl, 77, who grew to manhood here, died Thursday night at a convalescent home in Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Bruces in Ft. Dddge; and burial was in the Greenfield cemetery at Knierim.A fter leaving Goldfied he went to Fort Dodge where he was employed for several years by the Illinois Central railroad. He was married to Mrs. June Julius Wolfe of Ft. Dodge. Later Mr. Nicholl moved to Omaha, where he worked as an expressman for the Illinois Central between Omaha and Sioux City. After several years of railroading he retired and moved to a farm near Harris, Ia., in Osceola county. He farmed there with his brother, J. Harry Nicoll, until early in 1940.At that time he retired from farming and moved to Spirit Lake. Six years ago he moved to Eagle Grove to make his home. Mrs Nicholl died in December of 1948. His parents, a brother, J. D. Nicholl, two sisters, Mrs. Martha Smith and Mrs. Lydia Slaikeu and a stepson, Ray Wolfe preceded Him in death. Surviving are a brother-in-law, Harley Julius of Ft. Dodge; a brother, J. Harry Nicoll of Sibley; and three sisters, Mrs. W. K. Roth of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. A. M. Ross of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Edna Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Nicoll was a member of the
Spirit Lake Methodist church.Wright County Monitor
