Ernie May “Peggy” Kiley was born on September 7, 1910, at Radcliffe, Iowa, to Carl and Bertha Olson Vroman. She received her education at Radcliffe and Goldfield, Iowa. After her schooling, Peggy worked at the Carter Restaurant in Goldfield. She was married to John W. Kiley on January 2, 1929, at Kanawha, Iowa. The couple farmed near Kanawha for 6 years and then farmed at Goldfield for 3 years. In 1940, they moved to a farm east of LuVerne, Iowa. They farmed there until retirement. Peggy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Renwick. She also belonged to the Friendly Neighbor Club and the Renwick Sr. Citizens. She enjoyed embroidery, especially tea towels and gardening. Peggy enjoyed making scrapbooks of all of the activities of her grandchildren. After her husband went to the Care Center, Peggy continued to live on the farm until 1984. She then moved to the Manor Homes in Kanawha. Peggy became a resident of the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha on July 5, 1994. She died there on Thursday, December 30, 2004, at the age of 94. Peggy is survived by her sons; Leonard, Corwith, Iowa, DeWayne and wife, Shirley, Dakota City, Iowa, John Jr. and wife, Barb, Orchard, Nebraska, Earnest and wife, Nelda, Eagle Grove, Iowa and Kenneth and wife, Diane, Clarion, Iowa. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 2 foster grandchildren and many great and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter, 2 brothers, Orvile and Annis Vroman and 5 sisters, Marie Kiley, Helen Schultz, Fern Stupka, Florence Anderson and Ruby Nelson.
