Frances Margaret Dalen

Frances “Frankie” M. Dalen was born the daughter of Knut and Jennie Tokheim Sandven in Humboldt County, Iowa on September 28, 1911 and died at the Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny on May 22, 2005 at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 24 days. Frankie graduated from Eagle Grove High School and attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught school in Redfield for 3 years. Frankie and Seymour Dalen were married in Omaha in November of 1935. This union was blessed with three children: Nancy, Susan and Roger. A year before Seymour’s death in 1953, Frankie opened Dalen’s Store in Redfield, selling dry goods. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She was a member of the Redfield Methodist Church and the UMW. She was a member of several local bridge clubs. Frankie leaves the following family to celebrate her life: daughter Nancy Eklov and husband Dale of Austin, Texas; daughter Susan Foreman and husband Wes of San Diego, California; son Roger Dalen and wife Nancy of Littleton, Colorado; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her sister Molly Joberg of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away Monday, May 23, 2005. Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Seymour, nephew Charles(who was like a brother), sisters Agnes, Esther and Florence and two infant brothers.
