Mable L. Riesing, 78, of 1623 Thomas St., Hazel Green, Skemps Subdivision, died at 10:17 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at Ennoble Manor Care Center, Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, 1185 Route 35 North, East Dubuque, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque.

She was born on March 18, 1922, in Dows, Iowa, daughter of Otto and Ella (Steele) Knode. She married Lester L. Riesing on Feb. 27, 1941, in Prole, Iowa; he died on March 1, 1988. She was a homemaker, enjoyed crocheting and a good game of euchre.

Surviving are a daughter, Sherry (Forrest) Axtell, of Capron, Ill.; a son, Lester R. (Rosemary) Riesing, of Dubuque; 12 grandchildren, Patrick Axtell, Catherine Mayberry, David Axtell, Lisa Ball, Pamela Burton, Donald Axtell, John Riesing, Russell Riesing, Mary Duncan, Lynn Riesing, Laura Wright and Patricia Riesing; six great-grandchildren, Jerod, Jacob, David, Brian, Gregory and Ashton; and a brother, John (Katherine) Knode, of Estherville, Iowa. She also was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. A Mable L. Riesing Memorial Fund has been established.
