John Harold "JH" Jorenby, 90, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at the Brookview Manor in Brookings. He was born May 9, 1910, in Dows, Iowa. He received his education at Volga, graduating from high school in 1928. He then began farming in Brookings County, near Volga. He married Geneva Erickson on Aug. 30, 1933, at Madison. They farmed near Volga, until retiring in 1975. His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 1994, at Brookings.

Survivors include a son, Wayne of Volga three daughters: Evelyn Thompson of Volga, Eleanor Hillestad of Lake Preston and Dorothy Beach of Brookings 10 grandchildren 18 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ruth Leite of Volga. Services begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Volga, with interment at South Lake Campbell, rural Volga. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rude's Funeral Home of Brookings.
