ELEANOR RAE TROWBRIDGE SCHAFER, 65, died May 25, 1999, at a local hospital. She retired as director from Colorado Springs Senior Center after 23 years. Mrs. Schafer was born July 17, 1933, in Dows, Iowa. She was married June 20, 1954, to Arnold E. Schafer. She is survived by her husband; a son, A. Richard; two daughters, Lizabeth Renae Prutting and Lee Anne Wasinger; a brother, Thomas John Trowbridge; a sister, Ella Mae Rae; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, 1515 N. Cascade Ave. A private burial will be at Air Force Academy Cemetery. Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., 475-8303, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, 1515 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs 80907.
