Samuel "Lynn" Craig,55, of Braidwood, Ill., formerly of Marion and Monticello, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, in his home after an extended illness. Services: 1 p.m. Monday, R.W. Paterson Funeral Home, Braidwood, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Graveside services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, with military honors. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, in charge of local arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Beverley; two daughters, Chandra Craig of Wilmington, Ill., and Amy (Carl) Giles of Braidwood, Ill.; his mother, Bonita Craig of Monticello; a sister, Juanita Fee of Fullerton, Calif.; two brothers, Ronnie (Joni) Craig of Mount Vernon and Roger (Nancy) Craig of Monticello; six nieces; five nephews; two great-nieces; and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Herschel Craig, on July 12, 1992; and a nephew, Jarrod Craig.

Samuel was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Blytheville, Ark., the son of Herschel and Bonita Lucas Craig. Sam graduated from the Marion High School in 1961 and from DeVries Institute in Chicago in 1963. He was an Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Peterson Engineering Co. in Iowa. Samuel L. Craig and Beverley Harris were married June 13, 1965, in Dows, Iowa. He was employed as an electrical technician for Argonne National Resource Laboratory in Argonne, Ill., for 29 years. Military honors conducted by the Monticello Drill Team. Memorials made in his name to the Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Braidwood Fire Department would be appreciated.
