Dr. Conrad L. Meints, Duluth, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 1996, in St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Belmond, Iowa, he graduated from Belmond High School and attended Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. In 1951, he graduated cum laude from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He practiced in Fergus Falls, Minn., before joining Dr. Bartig in the Medical Arts Building in Duluth in 1958. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a medic for the Marine Corps. He was wounded in the Battle of Iwo Jima and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of Minnesota Podiatric Medical Association, American Podiatric Medical Association, First Lutheran Church, and was president of the church council and taught Sunday school for 25 years. He was a Boy Scout leader and member and past president of the Gideons International, Kiwanis Club and VFW. He was a former member and past president of Duluth Chapter of Toastmasters.

His parents were William Luke and Tillie P. Henn Meints. He is survived by his wife, Naomi; three daughters, Lois Bloxom of Arlington, Texas, Carol Hanson of Duluth and Joyce Meints of St. Paul; two sons, Luke of Denver and Dr. Glenn of Duluth; four sisters, Esther Halverson of Kanawha, Iowa, Grace Haugen of Dows, Iowa, Marion Carpenter of Alexander, Iowa, and Karen Ofstethun of Clarion, Iowa; two brothers, Glenn of Belmond, Iowa, and William of Kansas City, Mo.; and nine grandchildren. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Johnson Mortuary. Visitation will continue from 11 a.m. until the noon services Monday in First Lutheran Church. Entombment will be in Sunrise Memorial Park. Memorials would be appreciated to First Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Johnson Mortuary.
