K. Lorraine Murphy, 92, Minnesota, died Thursday (10/09/03). Lorraine was born Kathryn Lorraine on May 25, 1911, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Nicholas and Mary (Keepers) Adams. Graduated with the class of 1929 from Pemberton High School in Minnesota. Lorraine received her nursing training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, graduating in 1933. She worked as a registered nurse in several states and was employed by Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu at the time of the Pearl Harbor bombing on Dec. 7, 1941. She enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a lieutenant aboard a hospital ship, the USS Marigold, which operated in the European and Pacific theaters. On Aug. 1, 1950, she married Donal W. Murphy at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Mapleton, Minn. They lived on a farm north of Pemberton, Minn., until his death in 1985.

Survivors: daughters, son-in-law, Mary Koranda, Ames, Iowa, Cynthia and John Beckwith, Lincoln; brother, sister-in-law, Laurence and Marguerite Adams, Maryland; sister, Eileen Adams, Minnesota; grandchildren, spouse, Sean and Jacqueline Mc Elvy, Stephen II, Scott, Anthony Koranda, Jason, Kathryn Lorraine, Peter Beckwith; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, three sisters, five brothers, two grandchildren. Funeral Mass: 1 p.m. Monday, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Clair, Minn. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home, Mankato, Minn; one hour prior to services, the church. Rosary service: 7:30 p.m. Sunday, funeral home.
