Loren E. Evans, 68, of Bettendorf, died Saturday, November 5, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, November 7, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

He was born March 24, 1937, near Dows, Iowa, the son of Dolliver and Marie (Bernsmeier) Evans. He was a graduate of the Iowa State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls, Iowa. Loren spent most of his adult life farming their family farm between Williams and Dows, Iowa. He retired in 1989 and moved to Bettendorf. He ate virtually every meal out and was a familiar and friendly figure at the former Bishop's Cafeteria at Duck Creek Mall, the Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Davenport, and the Maid-Rite in Bettendorf.
Those left to honor his memory include his brother and sister-in-law, Ar Dean and Lois Evans, of Davenport. Loren was preceded in death by his parents.
