James L. Lovrien died September 24, 2006, at the age of 82. A graveside service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Thursday, September 28, at 10 a.m. Jim was born February 26, 1924, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. During World War II, Jim served as an Aerial Photo Gunner (at the rank of Sergeant) in the Air Corps, participating in the New Guinea, So. Philippines, and Luzon campaigns/battles. He was discharged from the military in 1945. After leaving the service, Jim pursued a law degree in Minnesota. While attending college he met Arlene J. Schoonover. They married in August, 1948. Jim went on to pass his bar exams in September, 1953 and practiced law in Northern Minnesota for a short period of time. Jim then moved his family to Seattle, Washington in 1959 to accept the position of Claims Adjuster with Allstate Insurance Company. He spent his career with Allstate retiring in 1986 as a Claims Analyst in Salem, Oregon. He and Arlene spent the next fifteen years traveling, fishing, and golfing.

Jim is survived by his wife, Arlene; daughter, Julie Bliss; sons Brad and Craig; six Grandchildren; and, three Great-Grandchildren. Remembrances may be sent to Mt. Hood Hospice, P.O. Box 1269, Sandy, Oregon 97055. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
