Marvin F. Freerksen, 65, of 1531 Sixth Place S.E., died Wednesday (July 19, 2006) at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Holmes Cemetery in Holmes. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Marvin Fred Freerksen was born on Nov. 24, 1940, to Fred and Mae (Bornholt) Freerksen in Eagle Grove. He attended school in Eagle Grove. Marvin enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 and received his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1966. He worked for Anderson-Erickson Dairy, Schwans and Ennis Trucking in Clarion. He was a city bus driver for Mason City Transit and Huffman Transportation. Marvin also was apartment manager at the DeVille IV Apartments in Mason City until his retirement. Marvin enjoyed his grandchildren, coffee at Hy Vee and visiting with his neighbors. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Moose and Elks.

Marvin is survived by two daughters, Anita (Kevin) Eschweiler, of New Hampton, and Tanya (Don) Bates, of Pleasant Hill; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Eschweiler, of New Hampton, Amanda, Dylan, Ally, Ashley, and DJ Bates, of Pleasant Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mae Freerksen; son, Brian; brother, Jerry; and his close companion, Millie Johnson. Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel
