After his retirement he worked for Pinkerton Security in Mason City for several years. He enjoyed gardening, picking raspberries, fishing, hunting, playing cards with the senior citizens in Plymouth, and was an avid Hawkeye football and basketball fan, but his great love and enjoyment was his family and grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ann Davey of Manly; two sons, Jim Davey and his wife Melanie Stancil of Knightdale, NC, and Ralph Davey and his wife Joan of Manly; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, William Davey and his wife Corrine of Gadsden, Alabama; as well as other relatives and many friends.
