Madeline Richeal, age 96, of Storm Lake, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Sliefert-Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake with Reverend Beverly Bell officiating. Interment will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Madeline Shake Richeal was born the daughter of Frank and Susie (Goldenshue) Shake on October 24, 1906 in Bloomfield, Ind. Her family moved to Clarion and she graduated from Clarion High School. In 1931, Madeline was united in marriage to Earl Richeal and this union was blessed with one son, James. Madeline worked as a cashier for IPS and Selective Service and was a secretary for Storm Lake Community Chest. Faith was very important to Madeline and she was a dedicated member of Storm Lake United Methodist Church, where she was active in circle. Madeline participated in her community as well, having been a board member and past president of Wa Tan Ye, a member of the Saratoga Club, and a member of the Methodist Manor Guild. She also did mending for the Buena Vista County Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, particularly roses, but most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and neighbors. She was also very patriotic.

Preceding Madeline in death were her parents, Frank and Susie Shake; her husband, Earl in 1958; her son, James in 1984; two sisters; two brothers and great-grandson, Nicolas. She is survived by her granddaughters: Cathi Stone and her husband, Mike of Novato, Cal., and Kelly Stone of Fort Bragg, Cal.; her daughter-in-law, Mary Richeal of San Raefel, Cal.; four great-grandchildren: Jonathon, Christopher, Matt and Hailey Stone; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Indiana.
