Alma K. Thompson, 102, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Sunday (Dec. 14, 2003) at Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Bill Poland and the Rev. Keith Scott officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and continues one hour before services Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa.

Alma was born Feb. 10, 1901, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of George and Carrie (Larson) Thorson. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School, attended college in Cedar Falls, and Brookings, S. D. Alma taught rural school in South Dakota and Iowa for several years. She married Bernard E. Thompson on Dec. 26, 1927, in Eagle Grove. They farmed near Titonka, Wesley and Nora Springs before moving to Mason City in 1968. Alma was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, UMW, church circle and taught Sunday school for 15 years.

Alma is survived by two grandchildren, Thomas Halfpap and wife, Deb, of Mason City, and Carrie Halfpap Topp and husband, Jack, of Newton; great granddaughter, Patience; son-in-law, Alvin C. Halfpap of Boone; brother, Milton Thorson of Florida; sister, Cora Pontious of Sac City. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; daughter, Kathryn “Kaye”; eight brothers and sisters. Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory.
