Betty Jean Watne, 63, of Clarion, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Wright Medical Center, Clarion. Funeral services were held Monday, September 18th at First Lutheran Church, Clarion at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Gary Boen conducted the service. Burial was held at Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Betty Jean Jorgenson was born March 8, 1943, the daughter of Carroll and Margaret (Edwards) Jorgenson. She was raised and educated in rural Clarion. Betty received her formal education at Clarion High School, graduating in 1961. After graduation she attended Des Moines School of Practical Nursing, graduating in 1962. She worked at Mercy Hospital for a short time. After that she worked in Meservey for Dr. G. E. Jorgensen. On February 12, 1966, Betty was united in marriage to Jon Watne in Clarion. Betty spent her time raising her children, helping with the farm, and taking care of her many animals. Betty was active with many school and community activities. She enjoyed baking and gardening. After raising her children, she returned to nursing, working at the Clarion Care Center and North Central Human Services. Her greatest joy was her eight grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her husband of 40 years- Jon of Clarion; two sons-Jeff Watne and wife, Jill; and Tim Watne, all of Clarion; one daughter, Cindy Staudt and husband, Morris of Greene; eight grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents.
