Cindy (Darling) Neck, 45, died September 16, 2006. Services were held Sept. 20 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in San Diego. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery there. Cindy was born February 26, 1961 in Denver, and lived in Denver and Boulder before moving to Belmond in 1969. She graduated from Belmond High School in 1979, attended Grandview College in Des Moines and then Iowa State University, graduating in 1984. She received her MBA from University of Colorado in 1989. She lived in Phoenix and Denver before moving to San Diego in 1989 where she worked for Sharp Hospital in the contracting department. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996, she decided to be a stay-at-home mom to have quality time with her family. For the past 1 1/2 years she worked with her husband in his law practice. She enjoyed hiking, skiing, running, sailing, swimming and served as a helper in St. Patrick's School. She held many offices in the church and school.

Preceding her in death was a sister, Connie (Darling) Hayes of leukemia in 2000. Survivors include her husband Brent and son Ryan (11) of San Diego; parents Carroll and Joy Darling of Rockwell City; brother Curtis (Jennifer) Darling of Des Moines; brother-in-law Jeffrey (Susan Crowley) Hayes; nieces Jessica and Sarah Hayes; nephew Michael Crowley; mother-in-law Mary Helen Neck (Darrell Giddens) of Baton Rouge; father-in-law Tommy (Susan) Neck of Monroe, LA; sister-in-law Heidi Neck; brother-in-law Chris (Jennifer) Neck; nephew Bryton Neck; and niece Gigi Neck. Memorials may be sent to St. Patrick's School, 3583 30th Street, San Diego, CA 92104.
