Elsie Amanda Otteros, 104, of Williams, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at the Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 18, at the Vernon Lutheran Church, rural Dows. Burial was in the Vernon Lutheran Cemetery.
Elsie Amanda Beyer was born on March 6, 1902, the daughter of Fred and Klasine (Heiden) Beyer. She was baptized and confirmed at the Vernon Lutheran Church. She graduated from Vernon #9 and later from Wartburg College. She was united in marriage to Alfred M. Otteros on February 1, 1920 in Eagle Grove. She and Alfred settled on a farm in Vernon Township, which has been her home for the past 75 years. For many years they were in the corn shelling and trucking business. Elsie was a member of the Vernon Lutheran Church, rural Dows, Lutheran Ladies Aid and the Church Women.
Elsie is survived by a daughter, Clesine Caruth and husband, Andrew of Williams; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Matie Ackerman of Webster City and Ella Detmer and husband, Walter of Williams; and one brother, Harold Beyer and wife, Norma of Dows. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; a son, Fred; one granddaughter; a brother, Lawrence; an infant brother and sister; and one great-grandson.
