Roy D. Cummings, 79, of Belmond, died on Sunday, June 25, 2006, at the Belmond Medical Center after a long respiratory illness. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 28, at the Belmond United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Belmond Cemetery.

Roy Dean Cummings was born on October 17, 1926, in Gilman, Missouri, the son of Edward and Beatrice (Hogan) Cummings. He was educated in Gilman. The family moved to Des Moines in 1941. They went to work at the Ordinance Plant during World War II. During this time Roy met his future wife and life partner of 62 years, Lenora "Jo" Wicker. The couple was united in marriage in Des Moines on August 25, 1942. They moved to the Belmond area in 1952, residing there for a short time before moving to Crystal Lake where Roy worked for Sorenson Plumbing and Heating. In 1961, the Cummings moved back to Belmond and Roy began working for Kinseth Plumbing and Heating and in 1966 he became a partner in that business. Roy retired full time from the business in 1986.

Roy is survived by his wife, Lenora "Jo" Cummings of Belmond; two daughters, Carolyn Skiye and husband, Gary of Belmond and Sharon Skrovig of Clarion; one brother, Daryl Cummings of Des Moines; one sister, Ethel Smith of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marilyn; a son-in-law, Kenneth Skrovig; a twin brother, Ray; a brother, Franklin; two sisters, Ruth and Jessie Lee; and one great-grandson.
