Genevieve M. "Gene" Allen, 87, of the Methwick Community, died at the Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, on Saturday, July 30, 2005 after a brief illness. Gene had been a resident of the Methwick Community since 1996. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, August 3 at the Turner West Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Gene was born April 1, 1918 in Clarion. She graduated from the Clarion High School in 1936 and attended Cornell College and the AIB Business School. She married Dwight Allen and they were later divorced. For several years she was an office supervisor and medical secretary for pathologists, Coleman and Denser in Des Moines. For 22 years she served as a Field Representative for the American Cancer Society, Iowa Division.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Allen and companion, Geri Oster both of Lander, Wyoming; two nieces and their families and one nephew and his family, all of Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace Cramer; twin brothers, Warren and Walter; and former husband, Dwight Allen.
