Wilma M. (Evans) Rude, 94, formerly of Huxley, passed away Friday, July 8, 2005 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, July 12 at the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Slater. Burial of the cremains was held at the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Wilma was born September 21, 1920 in Prairie City to William J. and Margaret (de Reus) Evans. The family moved to Clarion, Hampton, farmed near Chapin, and finally settled again in Clarion where Wilma graduated from high school in 1927. She married Clifford E. Rude on April 7, 1938. Wilma and Clifford lived in Spencer, moving to the Huxley area in 1947. While living in Des Moines they adopted two children, Carolyn Kay and Ronald C. Wilma was a homemaker and her family was her major interest. She enjoyed playing cards, church work, volunteering and handiwork and crafts.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; one son, Ronald; one brother, Clifton Evans; and two sisters, Ione Kee and Irma Tomke. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Kay Gordon of Billings, Montana; four grandsons; three grandchildren; one sister, Mary Arvizu of Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Mabel Evans of Clarion; and nieces and nephews.
