Pauline Catherine (Bierl) Hamilton, 96, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the Glencroft Care Center, Glendale, Arizona.A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, July 5th at the St. John's Catholic Church in Clarion with Father Beckman officiating. Burial was in the St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery, Clarion.

Pauline Catherine Schroeder was born March 17, 1909 at Elgin, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Huelshorst) Schroeder. The family moved to the Carroll-Templeton area where she was raised and educated. In 1928, Pauline married Albert Bierl of Templeton. To this union three sons were born. After farming in the Templeton area, in 1937 they moved to Cascade and opened a Gamble Store. In 1940, they moved to Clarion and opened the Gamble Store. Pauline worked along side her husband in the store and did all the bookkeeping. In 1954, they were proud to adopt a daughter, Mary Anne. They sold the Gamble Store to sons, Vernus and Duane in 1960 and bought the Hi-Hatt Bowling Alley, which they operated until they retired to Phoenix, Arizona.

Albert passed away May 21, 1972. On October 13, 1973, Pauline married Fred Hamilton. Fred passed away January 13, 2004. Pauline is survived by a son, Donald Bierl and wife, Darlene of Clarion; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Bierl of Sun Lakes, Arizona; son-in-law, Dave Steinkuehler of Dows City, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie (Schroeder) Schon of Springfield, Missouri. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Albert Bierl and Fred Hamilton; sons, Vernus and Duane Bierl; daughter-in-law, Lynn Ann Bierl; daughter, Mary Anne Steinkuehler; five sisters, Julie Woerdhoff, Francis Wolterman, Margaret Chitwood, Florence Morgan and Loraine Schleisman.
