Ruth Marie McCormick, 76, of Clarion, died Monday, May 2, 2005 at the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 5th at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Clarion. Pastor Curt Miner officiated at the 10:00 a.m. service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Ruth Soren was born April 7, 1929, in Clarion, the daughter of Elmer and Marie (Meineke) Soren. She grew up on a farm in rural Clarion and attended country school, graduating from the Clarion High School in 1946. Ruth was employed by the telephone company. On September 23, 1951, Ruth was united in marriage with Dean McCormick at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home on the family farm near Clarion, where they raised their three children. Ruth and Dean farmed together for many years and continued to live on the farm until Ruth became a resident of the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always made time to help the children with their 4-H projects. She had a good sense of humor. Ruth was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Clarion where she enjoyed attending Women's Fellowship and was also a member of the Ceres Circle.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Dean of 53 years; three children, Rick McCormick and wife, Nancy of Council Bluffs, Christi Patterson and husband, Harold of Nevada, Scott McCormick and wife, Linda of Clarion; five grandchildren; one half-sister, Carol; one half-brother, Leonard; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Marj.
