Edythe Marie Severson, 93, of Clarion, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005 at the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 9th at the United Presbyterian Church in Clarion at 2:00 p.m. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Edythe Marie Severson was born September 4, 1911, the daughter of Jess and Cora (Eckersly) Whitman. She was raised and educated in Clarion, graduating from the Clarion High School. In 1937, Edythe was united in marriage to Stanley Severson in Waterloo. After Stanley passed away in 1939, she lived with her parents in Clarion and raised their two children. Edythe was a member of the Eastern Star and the United Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Rumley and husband, Donald of West Des Moines; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Gunderson of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Bergel Whitman of Clarion and Barbara Whitman of Lexington, Illinois. Edythe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; and one son, John J. Severson.
