Richard Gene Harms, 68, of Clarion, died Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Wright Medical Center, Clarion. Richard Gene Harms was born January 15, 1936 in Iowa City, the son of John and Luella (Meinders) Harms. He was baptized in the Methodist Church in Belmond and raised in the area. He attended the Kanawha schools. Richard started farming at an early age, helping his father and also taking care of him. He worked as a farm hand and in later years as a painter at Erickson Manufacturing.

Richard is survived by two brothers, Derald Harms of Clarion and Stenus Harms of Humboldt; long time companion, Tena Finn of Clarion; adopted children, Myrna Koenen and husband, Larry of Bentonville, Arkansas, Marlyn Pannof and wife, Laraine of Council Bluffs, Donna Hoffmann and husband, Dave of Renwick, Gary Finn and wife, Kim of Des Moines, Mike Finn and wife, Cindy of Des Moines; 12 adopted grandchildren; and five adopted great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
