Francis L. (Skeeter) Morris, 87, Belmond, died June 5, 2002 at the Belmond Medical Center Hospice Unit. Funeral services were held June 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond with Pastor Rod Hopp officiating. Music was provided by Marilyn Janssen, vocalist, and Eldoris Bunnell, organist. Ushers were Al Olson and Glenn Meints; honorary usher was Loren Bamford. Casket bearers were Robert Morris, Cory Morris, Mark Galloway, Mike Kelly, Ryan Pross, Dan Meints, Jon Alexandres, and Dan Nisley. Honorary bearers were Don Morris, Derl Morris, Lloyd Cunningham, Wallace "Soupy" Cramer, and Larry Ziller. Interment was at Belmond Cemetery.

Francis Luick Morris was born in Wright County on August 2, 1914 to David and Mabel (Keeling) Morris. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond. He attended country school near Belmond and graduated from Belmond High School with the class of 1932. He was united in marriage to Viola Soma on September 14, 1938 at her parent's home near Kanawha. Skeeter started farming south of Belmond on the family farm at an early age and later bought the farm. He worked for many years at the Belmond Sales Pavillion and also worked in the 60's and 70's at Mac's Feeder Supply. They continued to farm until retirement in 1984 when he and Viola moved to Belmond. In 1999 they moved into the retirement center in Belmond. He was an usher at Trinity for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, raising greyhounds and Shetland ponies, pitching horse shoes, and working jigsaw puzzles.

Preceding him in death were his wife in June 2000; his parents; uncle, Rob Morris; brothers, Glenn and Dwaine; and grandsons, Chad and Jon Morris. Survivors are his three children and their spouses, Richard and Sherry Morris of Belmond, Eileen and Craig Pross of Mason City, Dwight and DeLores Morris of Belmond; sister-in-law, LaVonne Morris of Albert Lea; nephews, Derl Morris of Belmond, David Morris of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Don Morris of Albert Lea; niece, Karen Hunt of Albert Lea; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
