Alice Nelson, 88, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Ramsey Village. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2006 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday at East Ullensvang Cemetery in Thor, Iowa. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Alice was born August 30, 1917 to Carl and Frederikka Nelson in Goldfield, Iowa. She was raised in Thor and attended rural Thor schools. Alice had lived over 50 years in Des Moines and moved into Ramsey Village in 1998. She worked as a book keeper for General Electric and Hoxie Fruit Company and was a member of Capitol Hill Lutheran Church.

Alice is survived by her brothers, Harry (Irene) Nelson of Webster City, Jens Nelson of Fort Dodge, Hans (Carol) Nelson of Webster City, and Clarence (Carole) Nelson of Grandby, CO; sister, Esther (James) Johnson of Kansas City; twenty nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marvin and Elmer; sister, Lela; and niece, Karen. Memorial contributions may be given to Ramsey Village or Capitol Hill Lutheran Church.
