Edmund Frank Walker M.D., a Psychiatrist and Neurologist, died on January 26, 2004 in Los Angeles at the age of 93. A native of Clarion, he graduated from the University of Iowa (BA 1932, MD 1936) and served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II after completing his residency at Yale. Dr. Walker's father was Herbert Peter Walker MD (1875-1960), a long-time Clarion physician, and his grandfather, William E. Walker (1835-1931 ), was a contractor and grocer in Clarion. Following discharge at the end of the World War II, Edmund Walker accepted a position on the faculty at the University of Michigan, but in 1948 moved to California to start a private practice in Los Angeles which continued until his retirement in 1991. Dr. Walker served as a consultant to the Los Angeles Unified School District and was a Clinical Instructor at Loma Linda University. He was on the staff of St. Vincent's Medical Center in Los Angeles for more. than 25 years, as well as White Memorial Hospital and Adventist Hospital in Glendale.
Dr. Walker's wife of 53 years, Charlotte Frisch Walker M.D., was also a Psychiatrist. She died in 1991. Dr. Walker is survived by his companion, Frances Solk, and by his son, Dr. Cedric Walker of New Orleans and two grandsons.
