Robert A. (Bob) Carlson, 71, of Surprise, Arizona, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 7, 2004. A memorial service was held Monday, January 12 at New Song United Methodist Church. Robert A. Carlson was born March 3, 1932 on a farm in Wright County the youngest child of Ole A. and Bertha M. Carlson. Robert was educated in Wright County. He enlisted in the Air Force on July 9, 1949 and was honorably discharged on December 20, 1952. Robert and Mary Ann Mechem were united in marriage on May 8, 1955. They were the parents of six children. The family moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in September of 1962. Robert worked as an auto mechanic for McCoy Motors until he retired in 1980 due to heart problems. The couple retired to Surprise, Arizona in June of 2002.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mary of Surprise, Arizona; two sons, Steven of Tucson, Arizona; Timothy and wife, Toby of Prescott, Arizona; three daughters, Robin Goodall of South Lake, Texas; Kelly Carlson of Cape Code, Massachusetts; Kimberly Lauger of Tucson, Arizona; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Joel; one grandson, Kyle Lauger; three brothers and one sister.
