Funeral services for Jennie Van Dyken Christians, 89, of Kanawha, were held Saturday, January 10, 2004, at the Wright Christian Reformed Church, rural Kanawha. Jennie Christians passed away January 6, 2004, at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home where she had been a resident the past three years. Interment was in the Wright Christian Reformed Church Cemetery.

Jennie, the daughter of Harry and Lavina Broekema Van Dyken was born December 21, 1914, in Manhatten, Montana. On August 13, 1959, she married Andy H. Christians and they made their home in the Kanawha area. Jennie loved growing flowers, especially roses, and often tried new varieties. She was also an accomplished seamstress and homemaker. She was a member of the Wright Christians Reformed Church and the Ladies Aid. Survivors include her step-daughter, Ardith DeYoung and husband, Al of Crown Point, Indiana and step-son, Ron Christians and his wife, Virginia of Kanawha. She also leaves nine step-grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andy; step-daughter, Janet; four brothers and two grandchildren.
