Lila Ann Hardy was born October 29, 1906 at Clarion, the daughter of Wesley and Charlotte Rumford Hardy. She attended Clarion schools, graduating from Clarion High School with a normal training certificate. She taught for several years at Grant #8 School in rural Clarion. On November 29, 1929, she and Leslie Lawrence Stevens were united in marriage and they lived on the same farm until his death in 1997. Lila continued to live on the farm until August of 1999, when she moved to the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Lila was a life long member of the United Presbyterian Church in Clarion where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Her greatest joy was to have former students remember her with cards, letters or just to greet her on the street. Lila enjoyed her flowers, home and visiting with her many friends and relatives. Lila is survived by one sister, Etta Dahlgren of Pensacola, Florida; one brother, Irwin Hardy; and sister-in-law, Nelda Hardy both of Osage; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Ina Harding; and two brothers, Kenneth and Hurvy.
