Earl L. Puffett, 87, formerly of Clarion, died Monday, October 27, 2003 at the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 1 from the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Don Morrison officiated at the 10:30 service. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Earl L. Puffett was born January 17, 1916, the son of Clifford and Elizabeth (Evans) Puffett. He attended schools in Thor and Eagle Grove. Earl served in the United States Army for three years. On April 19, 1941, Earl was united in marriage with Dana E. Loper at Bell, California. Dana (Esther) preceded him in death on October 9, 1997. They moved to Iowa from California in 1949. Earl farmed the Odie Jergenson farm southeast of Eagle Grove and then farmed by Clarion for two years. In 1960, he began work for the Farmers Co-op in Eagle Grove driving the gas bulk truck until his retirement in 1976. Earl was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, where he ushered and helped with the church maintenance. Earl became a member of the United Methodist Church in Clarion after he moved to the Meadows.

Survivors include two sons, Norman Puffett and wife, Francine of Terrytown, New York and Don Puffett and wife, Mary of Dubuque; two granddaughters; one step-grandson; one step-great-granddaughter; one brother, Willard Puffett and wife, Betty Jean of Mt. Vernon, Washington. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dana; brother, Wayne; sisters, LaVonne and Vera Mae.
